This is Jumbo Colchester water tower

The campaign continues to make this unique and magnificent building, the largest remaining Victorian water tower in Britain, a national public attraction whilst preserving its external appearance. Built from public funds in 1883, it served the town for over a century.

On appeal in 2001 the previous owner won the right to convert Jumbo into a luxury penthouse for his own use. By agreement limited public access was offered to the tower room.

But after four years delay the owner suddenly decided to sell the building, and it was sold by auction on 16-2-06 for the record sum of £330,000. The future of Colchester's major landmark is back in the melting pot.
